History

Trakya University Balkan Research Institute was established on February 26, 2010.

Its regulation was published in the Official Gazette (Resmi Gazete) on October 21, 2010, No.27736. With the decision taken by the Higher Education Executive Board meeting on 27.10.2011, the opening of the Department of Balkan History, the Department of Balkan Politics and International Relations, the Department of Balkan Languages and Literatures and the Department of Balkan Music Cultures was deemed appropriate. Balkan Research Institute adopts two graduate programs, MA in Balkan Politics and International Relations and MA in Balkan Languages and Literatures.

Ahmet GÜNŞEN is the founding chair of Balkan Research Institute who functioned between 3 March 2010 and 9 December 2014. His successors are:
